I have a lot of multiple versions of various issues (variants, printings, etc.), and invariably have to do what Jeff said - open up another window to individually check which comic is which... is 1b the virgin variant or the sketch variant? is 13c the 1:25 or the 1:10 variant? etc.
Having some sort of option to see either the cover or at least the descriptive text for the issue while adding comics to a collection would be a HUGE boost... a hover pop-over would be fine, but I'd love to actually have the option to show a thumbnail of the cover and/or the descriptive text for the issue/variant in the table while I'm adding/editing. This gets my vote!

How about something similar, but more general - highlighting values that stand out from surrounding data... that would effectively do something similar, while being code- rather than data-based. I currently scan the values in the volume to pick out keys or books of interest as it is, doing a bit of color highlighting based upon how far off of average a particular book is (or even just "above average value" for the series or page of issues) would help a lot.
