Members only feature or area
To entice more people to become lifetime members, what about members only feature or a members only area?
I think there's a excel option that members get but we need more features/exclusive area.

I am open to suggestions as to what other benefits I could provide lifetime members. I mean in 8+ years we have had 508 unique donors, and "only" 158 lifetime members.
But the site does make money just by you using the site (each page view is more ad views, etc). So the more time you spend on the site, the more money the site can earn. What probably hurts the site the most is people using an ad blocker.
Look for CBR's first ad next week. It will be interesting to see how many sign up from it.

Also, nothing in the world is free.
By clicking on the ads that's on the site, CBR can remain free. Without those ads or if people don't click, CBR would have to change. That's not an opinion but a fact.

I agree the site should be free or 99% of the features be free. That's a given. The site being free is one of the reasons I kept on coming back.
That doesn't mean you can't add an area for members only or a feature that only lifetime members can use. Nothing brilliant comes to mind but that's what a suggest box is for, right?

personally i like and somewhat agree with arthurs respected opinion...but i think there needs to be something that the points and/or lifetime members can do, or pay points for, not something where you are forced to pay but more forced to be more involved.
Benefit: people become more active, site becomes more completed = best comic source on the net
Cons: arthurs point in not totally agreeing with that method....

Im not sure that is the purpose of a free site. I think they want to make everyone feel inclusive and is the reason why the site is one of the best... everyone can participate in every aspect of the site's tool's and features. I think making an inclusive area would upset folks and may have an adverse affect.
On the other hand, I understand what your saying and dont feel that you are wrong in wanting something special for life time members, but I do feel the badge that is under your avatar denotes that your one of the "star bellied sneetches."
As is the way America should be, those that can give... give. Those that cant, still feel apart of the club and not excluded from every feature.
I hope I dont come off sounding obstinate... that isnt my intention because it's not wrong to want more for your service, money, time...but I dont think that is what the creator of the site had in mind when he set it in motion.
Then again, I could be completely off base. These are only my opinions.
